January 2016 – Did you know that Florida has 11 national parks? Not all of them have “park” in their name. Some are seashores (Canaveral), some are monuments (Castillo de San Marcos) and some are memorials (DeSoto) but they all belong to the National Park Service and they all have water, which means you can launch a kayak or a canoe and participate in the Centennial Paddle Challenge when you visit. Paddle 100 miles in at least three of the state’s 11 national parks to celebrate the NPS Centennial and earn yourself a nifty Centennial patch!
The challenge kicks off Saturday January 23 at 10 AM at Biscayne National Park. It’s free, it’s fun and it’s healthy!
