Volunteer: Cypress Tree Planting
August 19 @ 8:00 am - 12:30 pmFree
Volunteer with the SFNPT to plant cypress trees in Big Cypress National Preserve.
On Saturday, August 19th we will plant 150 cypress trees along Turner River Road as part of restoration work in the park. Trees will be planted at sites newly cleared of invasive plant species and at several new culvert locations in the park. Planting is hard work, but it is a rewarding experience that helps improve park habitats and benefits native plants and wildlife – we can’t do it without the amazing support from volunteers!
This project is made possible through the generous support of the Guerra Family Foundation. Thank you for your continued support of South Florida’s national parks!
When: Saturday, August 19th from 8:00 AM – 12:30 PM
Where: Meeting at US 41 and Turner River Road (Hp Williams Roadside Park)
What To Bring: Lots of water, food, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, bug spray, long pants, long sleeved shirt, close-toed shoes you don’t mind getting wet and dirty, and gardening gloves. We will be planting in areas with standing water so dry shoes and clothing to change into after the event is recommended.
